History
Senior Information Fair was started in 1999 by the Mayor's Advisory Council under the direction and guidance of then Mayor Paul Helmke in order to address the critical information gap in understanding how assisted living facilities operated.
It has since expanded to be a popular one-stop unbiased educational experience for seniors ages 50 and up, their families and caregivers by providing valuable information on memory care, residential opportunities, finances, elder law, health insurance, home care, hearing and so many other resources & information along with a variety of screenings.
SIF was originally held at Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Community Center which it quickly outgrew. It was then moved to the downtown Allen County Public Library to allow additional space for vendors and attendees.
Following our 2019 event ACPL built the Abraham Lincoln Room which affected vendor booth space. At that time the SIF Board determined our yearly event would again need to find a new venue that could accommodate the number of vendor booths and be easily accessible for attendees. Beginning in 2022 SIF is now being held at Turnstone's Plassman Athletic Center Fieldhouse.
